If there is one thing to start a global bridal trend, it’s a royal wedding.
Whether you know it or not but it’s the royals we have to thank for many of the bridal traditions we still see in weddings today such as cake topping figurines, delicate lace and of course wearing a white dress.
Since Markle said “I do” LoveCo® has had an abundance of brides wanting to enhance their natural beauty on their special day rather than cover it up (yay!). To celebrate the 2018 royal wedding, we’ve collated some of the greatest royal beauty and bridal trends to follow.
1. Less is more
Proving less is always more, LoveCo® favourite royal wedding trend was Megan Markle’s enhanced natural beauty.
A sheered-out water-based foundation allowed Markle’s natural beauty to shine through on her special day. A luminizer and face highlighter created her glowy and radiant look that was further complemented with a subtle Smokey eye, natural lashes and a hydrating lip balm. In terms of touch-ups, Markle’s makeup artist on the day Daniel Martin said a small touch up service of blotting paper and a light forehead powdering was used. The entire look was elegant, chic and timeless.
Natural products we recommend to recreating this look: Apour organic beauty Lux Organic Lip Conditioner, Josie Maran Argan Enlightenment Illuminizer, Jane Iredale blotting paper, Makeup Forever Water Blend and Young Blood Outrageous Lashes Mineral Lengthening Mascara.
2. Elegance is timeless
One of the most eagerly anticipated dresses in history was Kate Middleton’s 2011 wedding gown, designed by Sarah Burton, creative director of Alexander McQueen. Middleton’s dress was a 1950s-style dress made with satin gazar, lace and organza, nipped in at the waist with a full skirt designed to resemble an opening flower. Both Grace Kelly and Princess Kate’s dresses had lace as the focal point with classic makeup to accompany. The bridal lace trend proves itself to be timeless, classy and forever elegant (if done right!).
Fun fact: Kate actually did her own makeup on the day!
3. Walking down the aisle alone
Fiercely independent and brave Markle walked down the aisle alone setting a global trend for all brides. As Megan’s father recovered in hospital, Megan chose to walk down the aisle alone before being joined by Prince Charles. In a world where the perfect family most certainly doesn’t exist, Megan broke tradition on the global stage for all brides facing issues with the traditional father walk down.
4. Go big or go home
Remember it’s your day so go big or go home!
The day should reflect yours and your partners personalities. Shy princess Diana was forever bold with her fashion choices and her wedding dress did not disappoint.
Her dress will be forever remembered with its 25-foot train and totally excessive layers that were encrusted with over 10,000 pearls. Just looking at all those layers could give you the sweats, however, it was exactly what she wanted, on trend and absolutely memorable. You just have to take one look at your mother’s wedding dress to understand the impact Diana’s wedding day look had on its time.
